Reading coach: Work one-on-one with kindergartners and first- through third-graders in elementary schools across Pima County who are reading below grade level. Coaches make reading fun and interesting, and help students become independent readers who are excited about learning. Volunteers choose the day and time that are most convenient for them.
Family room attendant: Family room volunteers help maintain a friendly, caring atmosphere where families can relax and “get away” while still being close to their child near the intensive care unit at a hospital. A two-hour training is provided, and a TB test and health screening is required.
Cops & Rodders Car Show: Be part of one of the biggest car shows in Southern Arizona at Hi Corbett Field on Nov. 2. Help is needed with set-up, registration, judging, data input, the VIP tent, raffle sales, cleanup and more.
Medical warehouse supervisor: A nonprofit is recruiting registered nurses (or other medical personnel) to supervise its warehouse clerks in sorting, categorizing and packaging surplus medical supplies. No computer skills are required.
Days of Caring: More than 500 volunteers are still needed Oct. 23 and 26 at local nonprofits, child-care centers and schools. There’s something for everyone: repairs and maintenance, gardening, sorting and organizing, painting, clerical duties and more.
