  • Buffelgrass eradication:
  • Remove invasive buffelgrass from throughout the Tucson area. Buffelgrass, which is highly flammable, not only threatens the Sonoran Desert but also homes, businesses and schools. There are various duties and options for volunteers of all skill levels.
  • Desert Ashram:
  • Desert Ashram is a meditation and retreat center in northwest Tucson. Potential volunteers are welcome to visit the temple, library, meditation areas and walking paths on this 26-acre oasis. Volunteer tasks include washing dishes and helping with related jobs for two to three hours. Due to the monastic nature of the area in which this work will be done, only women can volunteer.
  • HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital:
  • Volunteers are needed to help staff members provide activities that support and facilitate rehabilitation goals for patients. Volunteers help patients who are being treated for stroke, amputation, arthritis, brain injuries, burns and other conditions.
  • Tu Nidito:
  • Volunteers facilitate peer support groups for children, teens and adults whose lives have been impacted by serious illness or grief. You may fill out a volunteer application at online.
  • University of Arizona Medical Center:
  • Create a congenial atmosphere and provide great customer service while maintaining the day-to-day operations of the hospital gift shops. Tasks include selling merchandise, replenishing shelves and unpacking products. Gift shops are open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Sunday.
