Chess club: A new recreational therapy program is looking to provide fun, educational activities throughout the day that allow participants to add more leisure "tools" to their "tool kit."
Magazine assistant: A nationally distributed nonprofit quarterly magazine needs help with mailings, filing, organizing materials and more. Located on a 26-acre oasis of peace and beauty in northwest Tucson, this is an opportunity for those who enjoy working in a quiet and peaceful environment that is smoke-free.
Kitty cat construction crew: A shelter needs volunteers who have basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, landscaping or electrical skills, or anyone willing to learn and help with remodeling projects. Volunteer on your own or come with a group. This is a physically demanding position, which can require lifting 40 pounds, bending or standing for long periods of time, and working outside in the heat.
Kennel turnout: Enjoy direct contact with dogs? You can help an agency place dogs in an exercise area to run and play; walk a dog with injuries; play with the dogs and monitor them; hose out the cages and change the bed covers; feed them; and/or administer any medications that are needed. Turnout usually lasts about two hours.
