Volunteer Income Tax Assistance volunteers: Help put hard-earned money back into the pockets of those who need it most. In 2014, VITA Task Force of Arizona volunteers helped bring back $10.5 million in Earned Income Tax Credit, which is the most significant tool in lifting children out of poverty. Many volunteer positions are available, such as greeter, interpreter and tax preparer. No experience is necessary, and training is provided at no cost.

AIDSWALK: This is the single largest fundraiser of the year for the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation, and all the money raised remains in Tucson. This event requires the support of more than 400 volunteers. The event will be held starting at 7 a.m., Oct. 12 at the Joel D. Valdez Main Library downtown. Sign up at online.

Casa de la Luz Hospice: Volunteers provide companionship for patients and families, respite for caregivers and general support as needed to enhance the patient’s quality of life. Volunteers do not provide hands-on care, but they do play an integral role in the hospice program.
