PHOENIX - A one-term Oro Valley Republican state lawmaker, Adam Kwasman, said Monday he is exploring whether to take on incumbent Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick in Congressional District 1, an expansive district that includes parts of northern Pima County and much of the east and northern regions of the state.

Kirkpatrick was first elected in 2008, only to lose her seat two years later to Republican Paul Gosar by about 13,000 votes. Last year, following redistricting, Kirkpatrick reclaimed the seat, defeating Republican Jonathan Paton by about 9,200 votes.

Kwasman, whose exploratory committee makes him the lone Republican publicly considering a CD1 candidacy, said jobs and repealing The Affordable Care Act will be priorities.
