Today is election day in Congressional District 8 to pick the person to complete the term of former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

Three candidates are vying for the seat: Republican Jesse Kelly, Democrat Ron Barber and Green Party candidate Charlie Manolakis.

Barber went to the polls this morning at St. Cyril’s of Alexandria church, 4725 E. Pima St., accompanied by his former boss Giffords. She dropped off her mail-in ballot, a post on her Facebook page showed.

Kelly voted by mail weeks ago, said his spokesman John Ellinwood. His plans before his election night party included lunch at a midtown Jerry Bob’s.

Manolakis was to vote about noon at St Demetrios Greek Church, 1145 East Fort Lowell Road.
