Pima County Democratic Party precinct committee members will meet Saturday to recommend three possible replacements to fill an empty seat in the statehouse.

The meeting in Green Valley is the second time this year the party has been asked to fill a vacancy in Legislative District 2.

Former. Rep. Andrea Dalessandro, D-Sahuarita, resigned last week.

Dalessandro was appointed to the Senate by the Pima County Board of Supervisors to fill the vacancy left by former Sen. Linda Lopez, D-Tucson, who resigned earlier this month. Lopez’s term expires at the end of the year.

The county Board of Supervisors is expected to decide on a replacement for Lopez next week.

Potential replacements include former Tucson Unified School District Governing Board member Miguel Cuevas, Demion Clinco, president of the Tucson Historic Preservation Foundation, and Annabelle Nuñez, an associate librarian with the Arizona Health Sciences Library at the University of Arizona.

The Saturday Green Valley meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in a second-floor meeting room in the Continental Shopping Plaza. It will be

open to the public.
