Former Tucson Police Department Lt. Maria Hawke dropped her appeal over being fired back in April.
Hawke’s attorney, Mike Storie, struck a deal with the city moments before her Civil Service Commission hearing was scheduled to begin. The deal changes Hawke’s dismissal from an outright firing to her resigning in lieu of termination.
While the agreement redefines how Hawke left the department, she must still face a hearing about the fate of her police officers license before the Arizona Police Officers Standards and Training Board.
Each time a TPD investigation results in a firing, the department forwards the results to the state board, triggering a hearing.
Back in April, Hawke, a one-time department spokeswoman, was fired after an internal affairs investigation uncovered “untruthfulness” on her part.
TPD has not release records pertaining to Hawke’s investigation.
