Young cartoonists can show off their skills to one of the best in the business — and maybe get turned into a ‘toon.
As part of the upcoming “Love of Literacy” day at the Children’s Museum Tucson, the Star’s David Fitzsimmons will judge a cartooning contest. Artists age 12 and under can submit cartoons about books or literacy on paper no larger than 8 ½ by 11 inches.
Here’s how to submit:
By mail: Send to Fabulous Fitz Contest, Marketing Department, Arizona Daily Star, 4850 S. Park Ave., Tucson, AZ 85714. Mailed entries must be postmarked by Sept. 19.
By email: Send to firstname.lastname@example.org. Emailed entries must be sent by 5 p.m. Sept. 22.
Fitz will pick five winners next week. He’ll invite them to join him at “Love of Literacy” Day, Sept. 28 at the downtown Children’s Museum Tucson, 200 S. Sixth Ave. At 11 a.m. in the Arizona Daily Star tent, he’ll draw each winner and then host a clinic on how to draw the heroes of some of today’s most popular cartoon series for kids.
