In response to the passage of SB 1062, a bill that shields individuals and businesses from lawsuits based on discrimination toward gay people and possibly others, a local LGBT group organized on Friday a march to Gov. Jan Brewer's local office in the state office building.

Wingspan, Southern Arizona's non-profit lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community center, began the march at 4 p.m. from its location at 430 E. 7th St. to the state office building at 400 W. Congress St.

The bill, passed by the state House and Senate, now awaits Brewer's decision on whether to pass or veto. She is not expected to make a decision until after the weekend.
