Crews from Golder Ranch Fire District rescued a 17-year-old hiker who injured her ankle near Romero Pools Sunday afternoon.

The girl was hiking in the area with two other people and when they were making their way back from Romero Pools she sprained her ankle, said Capt. Josh Hurguy a Golder Ranch spokesman.

A technical rescue team made up of crews from the fire department, the Pima County Sheriff's Department and the Southern Arizona Rescue Association were called to help the girl out of Catalina State Park.

The girl was in stable condition and refused to be taken to the hospital by ambulance, Hurguy said.
