Thomas Sheridan, University of Arizona School of Anthropology, delivers tonight the opening lecture of the Main Library's exhibit, "Mapping Arizona: From Mexican Territory to U.S. State." Sheridan will highlight the historical context that shaped Arizona and will draw from his book "Landscapes of Fraud: Mission Tumacácori, the Baca Float, and the Betrayal of the O’odham."

A book signing will follow the lecture. Copies of Sheridan's books, "Arizona: A History, Revised Edition" and "Landscapes of Fraud: Mission Tumacácori, the Baca Float, and the Betrayal of the O'odham," will be available for purchase.

The lecture will be held at the Main Library, room A314, at 7 p.m.

The related exhibit, "Mapping Arizona: From Mexican Territory to U.S. State," offers a visual illustration of Arizona's path to statehood as documented through historical maps of the region. On display in the UA Main Library from Jan. 6 – March 28, "Mapping Arizona" is one of several exhibits, lectures and events hosted by the University Libraries in celebration of the state’s Centennial.
