Lightning started a house on fire Monday afternoon northwest of the city, authorities said.

Shortly after 4 p.m., lightning struck a clothes dryer vent at a house in the 2500 block of West Overton Ridge Place, and started a fire in the attic, said Laura Halady, a Mountain Vista Fire District spokeswoman.

Sixteen firefighters brought the fire under control in about one hour, Halady said.

No one was injured. A damage estimate was unknown, Halady said.
