A motorcyclist was killed today after he was hit by another motorcyclist who was reportedly speeding and weaving in and out of traffic in a no-passing zone, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 4:45 p.m. Saturday, when two motorcyclists traveling westbound on Bopp Road near Kinney reportedly were overtaken by a third motorcyclist, who collided with the victim, Pima County Sheriff's Deputy Tracy Suitt said.

The victim was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. The suspect is in serious condition, Suitt said.

The names of the victim and the suspect were not immediately released.

Speed and alcohol may have been a factor in the crash, Suitt said, and the investigation is ongoing.

The other motorcyclist traveling with the victim did not stop after the crash, Suitt said. Deputies are looking for that person to learn more about what happened.

Any witnesses are asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
