Poker Run, Bike Night to be held Saturday

Enjoy a motorcycle ride through Southern Arizona's wine country and help raise funds for homeless youths during the Stand Up for Kids Poker Run and Bike Night from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at the American Legion Post 109, 15921 S. Houghton Road, Corona de Tucson.

Participants visit several checkpoints where they may draw cards to build a winning poker hand. The planned route includes stops in Sonoita, Patagonia, Tumacacori and Green Valley.

The event concludes with a celebration featuring live music, food and a raffle. Registration fees are $25 with a passenger, $20 without.

Proceeds benefit Stand Up for Kids, a volunteer-managed nonprofit working with homeless teens and street kids. The group provides basic necessities for homeless youths and works toward getting them off the streets.

Free kidney-disease risk screening is Sat.

Desert Dialysis Inc. will be providing free health screenings, education and counseling for the two kidney disease risk factors: hypertension and diabetes.

The screening will be at 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Tucson Masonic Lodge No. 4, 3590 N. Country Club Road. For more information call 327-0007.

Bicycle advisory group seeks members

The county is looking for volunteers to serve on the Tucson-Pima Bicycle Advisory Committee.

Potential volunteers will meet with county staff to discuss potential bike projects and educating the public on bike safety.

Meetings are at 6 p.m. every second Wednesday of the month at the Himmel Park Branch Library, 1035 N. Treat Ave.
