Census conducting its housing survey

The U.S. Census Bureau has mailed advance letters to select households in the Tucson Metropolitan Area urging them to participate in the American Housing Survey.

Information from the survey helps to measure changes in housing supply. Questions include number of rooms, heating and cooling equipment, and home value.

The information collected is confidential and used for statistical purposes only.

Homebuyer program holding info session

The Pima County Community Land Trust will hold an information session for potential homeowners at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Pima County Housing Center, 801 W. Congress St.

The affordable-housing program gives qualifying low- to-middle income homebuyers the opportunity to purchase property through incentives and discounts.

Menlo Park celebrates improvement project

Celebrate the Menlo Park Neighborhood Revitalization Project at a dedication ceremony from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the park, 301 N. Grande Ave.

Project improvements include traffic circles, speed tables, a group picnic ramada, concrete decks and plazas, landscape planting, support irrigation and wrought-iron signage.

Enjoy free food, refreshments and live music by Mariachi Aztlán de Pueblo High School.

Training session set on hearing loops

Learn how to install an inductive hearing loop at a free class from 1 to 3 p.m. May 17 at the Adult Loss of Hearing Association, 4001 E. Fort Lowell Road.

An inductive hearing loop generates a magnetic field picked up by a hearing aid, allowing users to listen to microphone or TV sound signals more clearly.

Free Permit Prep 101 class is May 16

Teens getting their driver's license are invited to take part in the free Permit Prep 101 workshop from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 16 at Martha Cooper Branch Library, 1377 N. Catalina Ave.

Participants will learn about the rules of the road, steps in the graduated driver license, and tools and resources available to drivers.

Meditation course offered Mondays

Take the mystery out of meditation at the Meditations for a Happy Mind class from 7 to 8:30 p.m. every Monday at the Animas Center, 5575 E. River Road.

Kelsang Kunshe, an American Buddhist nun and meditation teacher, offers a pragmatic approach to learning the practice.

Participants enjoy two guided meditations and learn how to apply the techniques to their daily lives.
