Diverse gathering set at Methodist church

Exchange ideas with people of different religious and cultural backgrounds at the Global Village Square gathering from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church, 4625 E. River Road.

The event is sponsored by the Center for Emerging Futures, the Jewish-Muslim Peace Walk, Congregation Kol Simchah, the Muslim Community Center of Tucson and St. Francis church.

Suggested donation is $25 and includes a light lunch. For information, call 299-9063.

Alzheimer's workshop for families is Monday

A free Alzheimer's CARE training workshop will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at Mountain View Retirement Village, 7900 N. La Cañada Drive.

The CARE program helps families deal with behavioral changes associated with Alzheimer's and dementia.

Caregivers can learn about managing behaviors and encouraging engagement.

'Going 2 the Dogs' set for Saturday

Pet lovers and their furry friends are invited to the "Going 2 the Dogs" event from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park, 3105 E. Fry Blvd. in Sierra Vista.

Activities include American Kennel Club conformation, canine good-citizen test, agility demonstrations and a petting zoo. Food vendors and a photographer will also be on hand.

Shelter and rescue dogs will be available for adoption, as well as $30 microchipping and $20 shots for cats and dogs. Proceeds go to support the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center. Go to www.gsvkc.org or call 1-520-456-1033.
