No-kill group plans meeting for adopters

No Kill Pima County is holding a community meeting to help educate prospective adopters. The meeting will include tips on working with dogs and keeping them out of shelters, and for people to overcome hesitation about becoming foster care volunteers.

Keynote speakers are local dog trainers Janet Galante, owner of “Sit! Stay! Play!”; Jay Smith, owner of Community Dog Training; and Veronica Zimmerman, owner of V’s Cloud 9 K-9. The speakers will address behavioral concerns such as barking, aggression, house training, destruction, health issues and more.

Food Bank seeks help

at Boys, Girls Clubs

The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona is looking for volunteers for its Child Nutrition Program.

Volunteers are needed to serve meals to children ages 7 to 18 years old, help clean up after meals and wash the serving dishes from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at various Boys and Girls Clubs. Volunteers must attend the Pima County Food Certification Class and pass a background check.

Benefit for St. Rita’s

is Friday, Saturday

St. Rita in the Desert’s 16th Annual Festival benefiting the church’s St. Vincent de Paul Chapter runs from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and 3 to 10 p.m. Saturday  at the church, 13260 E. Colossal Cave Road.

There will be food, live local entertainment, games, a white elephant sale, craft booths and raffle tickets for purchase for prizes.

Proceeds will go to helping the needy in the Vail community and the St. Rita’s building fund.

Sons of Orpheus holds auditions for singers

The Sons of Orpheus male chorus is celebrating its 23rd anniversary and holding open auditions for its next eight-month choral season.

Rehearsals are at 7 p.m. every Wednesday at the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus facility, 5770 E. Pima St. A $120 annual fee goes toward scholarships for University of Arizona music students and operating expenses. There’s an additional cost for uniforms.
