Fair will spotlight pet-foster-care need
A grass-roots organization needs your help.
No Kill Pima County is holding a "Fosters to the Rescue" Fair from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Windmill Suites at St. Philip's Plaza, 4250 N. Campbell Ave.
More than 20 local rescue groups will be on hand to educate, inform and inspire prospective pet-foster-care volunteers on how they can improve the dire situation of Pima County's animals.
There will be light refreshments and raffle tickets sold to benefit pet-rescue groups.

Library MangaMania a comic fan's ganga

The Pima County Library is holding MangaMania from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Pima Community College's Downtown Campus, 1255 N. Stone Ave.
The event will include art and writing workshops with opportunities to meet local authors and artists, cosplay (costume play), anime viewing, video gaming, a Yu-Gi-Oh (trading cards) tournament, and other Japanese crafting and cultural activities.

Humane Society sets fundraiser for Aug. 2
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona is hosting its second annual "Dog Days of Summer" fundraising event from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 2 at Plaza Colonia, 2850 E. Skyline Drive.
The event is free, but you can buy raffle tickets for chances to win gift certificates and prizes. There will be live music and food for sale from plaza restaurants including Shlomo and Vito's and Gelato.
Guests are invited to bring their canine companions and spend an evening strolling through the courtyard.
Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets, caricatures from students at The Art Institute of Tucson, hot dogs, and gelato cones will be donated to the humane society.
