4 'hot topics' on tap at Temple Emanu-El
Temple Emanu-El's Adult Education Academy is hosting the "Hot Topics in the Hot Sun" summer series from Wednesday through July 3 at the temple, 225 N. Country Club Road.
The four weekly educational sessions are from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
The first discussion will be "Jewish Perspectives on Cremation Rather Than Traditional Burial" by Rabbi Sandy Seltzer.
It's $45 to enroll in the entire series or $15 per seminar.

Tucson Speedway is holding an all-class race-car practice run Friday.
The all-ages event is free, and there will be concessions and adult beverages available for purchase.
Pit gates and grandstands open at 5 p.m. The track is at 11955 S. Harrison Road.

Fundraiser heads for the beach (theme)

The Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network is holding its 16th annual "Treasures for TIHAN" fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Tucson - Reid Park, 445 S. Alvernon Way.
The event will include hors d'oeuvres, no-host cocktails, beach party-themed decorations, live music, and live and silent auctions of more than 400 items, according to a press release.
Event tickets are $65 in advance or $75 at the door.

Summer hours start at Botanical Gardens
Time to beat the heat and smell the roses.
Tucson Botanical Gardens is switching to its summer hours of 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Aug. 31.
The gardens are at 2150 N. Alvernon Way and is open seven days a week except Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
