The Pima Animal Care Center is offering an extra incentive to adopt cats: Adoption fees are waived for felines on Fridays.

The center is among 50 shelters nationwide competing in the ASPCA $100K Challenge, which involves finding homes for 5,000 pets by Aug. 31. The contest started June 1.

The base adoption fee for June is $30, plus a $15 license cost for dogs. Pets who’ve been at the shelter for more than two weeks have no adoption fee, and all pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped and vaccinated before going home.

The county-run shelter is at 4000 N. Silverbell Road.
