Pima Animal Care Center is offering special reduced rates for adopters this month.

All dogs at the center are $12, which includes vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery and a microchip.

Kittens are $12, but cats over the age of four months are free, and that still includes vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery and a microchip.

"There is a huge demand for pets in this community and we continue to believe there is capacity in Tucson to find homes for these animals," Kim Janes, manager of Pima Animal Care Center, said in a press release.

"It's just a matter of getting the word out that people don't need to shop for a new pet when we have a huge selection of pets to choose from. Whether you're looking for a pet that will motivate you to exercise, or you just want a companion when you're home, we have dozens of animals here that would like the chance to win your heart."

The county-run shelter at 4000 N. Silverbell Road is open noon-7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
