Mountain View's Oliver receives honor

Mountain View High School's Leah Oliver was inducted into the Arizona Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame.

The AZATA gave Oliver the distinction at a Feb. 16 event, recognizing her for her dedication to developing leadership and citizenship in students via education in sports health and training.

"It is a tremendous privilege to have nominated Leah Oliver for this award," AZATA Hall of Fame member Greg Pott said in a news release.

"I have known Ms. Oliver over 20 years and believe this honor could not go to a more deserving person. She possesses an exceptional ability to mentor and motivate students to pursue their interests and dreams."

Oliver has worked at Mountain View since 1989, teaching sports medicine classes and serving as the athletic trainer. During the 2010-11 school year, she won the AZATA Athletic Trainer of the Year Service Award and was named Marana Unified School District Teacher of the Year.
