1909: President William Howard Taft visits the Grand Canyon.

1948: The Tucson Airport Authority signs a 25-year-lease to run the Tucson Municipal Airport at its new South Side site.

1963: Rehearsal for Tucson filming of folk-song TV show "Hootenanny."

1966: District 1 enrollment passes 50,000.
