A man was struck by a car on the city's southwest side Tuesday night.

The man was struck shortly before 9 p.m. on West Ajo Way, west of South Mission Road, said Sgt. Chris Widmer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.

The man was treated by paramedics and taken to a hospital. His condition was not known, said Widmer.

The eastbound lanes on Ajo, west of Mission were closed. It is not known when the lanes will reopen.

The driver of the car is cooperating with police, Widmer said.
