The body of a person whose ultralight plane reportedly crashed south of Tucson was found Sunday afternoon.

A witness told deputies the plane went down a couple of days ago near Sahuarita and Wilmot roads, but he did not report the crash immediately because of his immigration status, said Deputy Tracy Suitt, a Pima County sheriff's department spokesman.

The witness called 911 around 9:30 p.m. Saturday and deputies and Tucson police searched the area that night but were unable to locate anything, Suitt said.

Authorities resumed the search Sunday morning and found the burnt out wreckage along with the body shortly after noon, Suitt said.

Suitt could not confirm the gender of the person, because of the condition of the body.

No other information was immediately available.
