The All Souls Procession was started by Tucson artist Susan Johnson in 1990 as a way to cope with the death of her father, also an artist. The small cadre of artists in the first years has given way to a procession with thousands of people. It’s organized by Many Mouths One Stomach, a nonprofit arts collective. This was the first year the procession had not been in downtown Tucson. It started near Grande and Speedway, traveled up St. Mary’s to Bonita and ultimately to the finale, on Congress west of Interstate 10. The Tucson Symphony Orchestra was the featured performer.
