Six puppies were found dumped in a cardboard box in a desert area on the northwest side, the Humane Society of Southern Arizona said Tuesday.
The puppies were left in an area near Twin Peaks and Tangerine roads without food or water. They were suffering from exposure to the heat and dehydration.
A man walking in the desert saw one of the puppies near the box. When he went to look closer he saw the other puppies still in the box, the society said.
The puppies are about 7-weeks old.
One of the puppies was already dead in the box and another died while at the Humane Society.
The four remaining puppies have been given treatment and are recovering, the Humane Society said. They will be put up for adoption once healthy.
