A San Simon man was killed in an ATV accident on Saturday, according to the Cochise County Sheriff's Office.

The man was identified as Tye Humphreys, 26. A passenger on the ATV suffered injuries in the crash and was taken to a Tucson hospital.

The sheriff's office said Humphreys was driving an ATV on a washed out trail south of San Simon when the ATV hit a dip and the vehicle went airborne. The ATV landed on its side, trapping Humphreys underneath.

San Simon Fire Department crews and sheriff's deputies were called at about 10 p.m. to the crash scene. Humphreys was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff's office said.

Neither of the occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
