Wild blooms are beautiful, but the cultivated flowers of spring and early summer make a colorful splash of their own in the Tucson area.

One place to see outstanding free displays is the Tucson Village Farm, 4210 N. Campbell Ave.

The urban farm — cultivated by and for the community’s youths — is a program of the Pima County Cooperative Extension and the University of Arizona.

Focused mainly on teaching young people how to grow and prepare fresh food, the farm also includes some dazzling displays of giant sunflowers and other blooms.

People can visit the farm from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
