A Sierra Vista woman told police she jumped out of a second-story window to escape after being held against her will for 12 hours.

The woman reported Thursday, Sept. 14, that she was being held in an apartment in the 2200 block of Las Brisas Way, according to a Sierra Vista Police Department news release.

Police began investigating about 7:30 a.m. after the woman ran for help and asked a person nearby the apartment complex to take her to authorities.

Detectives began surveillance of the apartment and served a search warrant at 11:30 a.m. Several suspects were found in the apartment and were questioned by detectives, states the release.

Zoe Howell, 34, was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, aggravated assault, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was booked into the Cochise County jail, police said.

The investigation is continuing.
