Pima County is now accepting applications for summer youth programs.

Youth between the ages of 14 and 21 can apply for the Pima County One-Stop Career Center's Summer Youth Programs.

Participants will earn minimum wage and gain work experience while working for Pima County, the City of Tucson, the University of Arizona and other local businesses.

Work hours will range from 20 to 40 hours per week. Placements will range from four to seven weeks. Jobs have ranged from administrative support, clerk, child care aide, recreation aide, library page, patient care technician, manual labor and surgery tech trainee at Pima Animal Care Center.

The summer youth programs also include basic education, in which young people can earn elective high school credits in math, reading and writing.

Teens can apply online at or pick up an application form at a local high school, community center or library. The deadline to apply and call to set up an assessment test is March 14.
