Young cartoonists can show off their skills to one of the best in the business — and maybe get turned into a ’toon.

As part of the upcoming “Love of Literacy” day at the Children’s Museum Tucson, the Star’s David Fitzsimmons will judge a cartooning contest. Artists aged 12 and under may submit cartoons about books or literacy on paper no larger than 8½ by 11 inches.

To submit, email your cartoon to by 5 p.m. today.

Fitz will pick five winners next week, and they’ll join him at “Love of Literacy” Day, Sept. 28, at the downtown museum, 200 S. Sixth Ave. At 11 a.m. in the Daily Star tent, he’ll draw each winner and then host a clinic on how to draw the heroes of some of today’s popular cartoon heroes.
