A trailer home on the north side that was destroyed by a fire Wednesday afternoon was vacant.

It was the second arson fire in that area of town in two days.

The blaze was reported about 3:15 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Miracle Mile, east of North Flowing Wells Road.

A fire was started in a shed on the property and moved to the mobile home. The fire in the single-wide trailer was brought under control within about 10 minutes, said Capt. Barrett Baker, a Tucson Fire spokesman.

The home was a total loss. A trailer near the one destroyed suffered some heat damage.

This is the second fire in a vacant home in this area in two days.

On Tuesday, a mobile home, in the 1400 block of West Panama Lane, just off North Flowing Wells Road north of West Miracle Mile, was destroyed. It was unoccupied and being used by the owners for storage, said Baker.

The fire “was incendiary, so it was started on purpose,” Baker said of that fire.

“Detectives responded and determined the fire to be an arson and they’re following up on some leads,” said Sgt. Chris Widmer, spokesman for the Tucson Police Department.
