The Tucson area and much of Southeast Arizona are under a flash flood watch until 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service is warning of possible heavy rainfall and thunderstorms developing in areas including parts of Pima, Cochise and Pinal counties during the morning hours, with further development through the afternoon.

A flash flood watch means that conditions are becoming favorable for widespread flash flooding to develop. The weather service recommends that residents of the area monitor forecasts closely and be ready to take quick action if flash flood warnings are issued.

Today's forecast high is in the upper 80s for Tucson, with a 60 percent chance of rain, decreasing to 30 percent tonight.
