A fire damaged a downtown art studio Friday morning, but firefighters saved the artwork.
Firefighters responded to a 911 call around 5:30 a.m. regarding a fire in an art studio on the 700 block of North Alder Avenue, the Tucson Fire Department said in a news release. A fire was burning in the attic space of the studio and the roof was heavily damaged.
The structure was not occupied at the time, but firefighters saw artwork that was in danger and covered it. All of the artwork, as well as some art supplies, were saved.
