Retirees’ group to discuss Affordable Care Act
The University of Arizona Retirees’ Association on Thursday will hold an educational seminar about the Affordable Care Act, Accountable Care Organizations and Medicare.
The seminar is from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Tucson Medical Center Senior Services — El Dorado Health Campus, 1400 N. Wilmot Road, senior services classroom. Expert panelists will include Lynn Heskett of the Pima Council on Aging, Linda Mendoza of El Rio Community Health Center and Dr. Palmer Evans, the executive-in-residence for health care management at the UA’s Eller College of Management.

on ‘Biggest Loser’ Tuesday
Anita “Sarge” Kellman of the Tucson-based Kellman Beat Cancer Boot Camp is expected to be on “The Biggest Loser” TV show, slated to air at 7 p.m. Tuesday on KOVA.
Kellman was asked by NBC to be a guest trainer for the Red Team on the weight-loss reality television show. Accompanying her on the show was a group of cancer survivors and cancer patients from Kellman Beat Cancer Boot Camp.
UA receives grant to train docs to treat older adults
The University of Arizona College of Medicine — Tucson received a $1 million grant to train doctors in caring for older, frail adults.
The Nevada-based Donald W. Reynolds Foundation will support and extend an existing geriatrics program founded with a previous Reynolds grant, UA officials say. The targeted specialties are: emergency medicine; pulmonary/critical care; hospital medicine; orthopedics; and surgery for geriatric patients.
