A new storm system is moving in to Arizona late Thursday, bringing with it cooler temperatures and a chance for heavy rain heading into the weekend.
Valley areas are expected to get between .75 and 1.5 inches into Friday, the National Weather Service in Tucson said in a forecast Wednesday morning.
A winter storm watch for heavy snow is in effect from late Thursday night through midday Saturday for elevations above 7000 feet, including the Santa Catalina and Rincon mountains, the service says. Up to 16 inches of snow is predicted at their higher elevations.
Today in Tucson should be sunny with a high in the mid 70s.
