A record number of Wildcats are signed up for classes that start Monday at the University of Arizona.

Students who paid a $40 fee got to move into their dorms early on Wednesday.

About 41,800 students are expected for the fall semester — a 3 percent increase over last fall, preliminary enrollment data shows.

This year’s mix includes about 7,800 incoming freshmen, about 600 more than last year.

A majority of UA students — about 57 percent — are Arizona residents. About 7,200 will live on-campus in student housing.

The top five declared majors this fall are pre-business, pre-physiology, psychology, biology and pre-pharmacy.
