The Cottonwood Fire southwest of Benson has grown to about 1,700 acres on Friday, officials said.

The blaze in the Whetsone Mountains started June 25 by lightning.

Crews are building containment lines.

More than 200 people are assigned to the fire. Two single-engine air tankers and three helicopters are working the fire.
