Kick off the holiday season with “Merry Twistmas, Tucson,” an original musical comedy play written by Star cartoonist and columnist David Fitzsimmons and featuring a cast of local celebrities and actors.

The production of 94.9 MIXfm’s annual Diaper Bank holiday play is Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Fox Tucson Theatre, 17 W. Congress St., downtown.

The cast includes Crystal Stark, Robert Shaw, Mayor Jonathan Rothschild, Police Chief Roberto Villaseñor, Bobby Rich and, of course, Fitz himself.

Will Marge and Tom win first place in the Winterhaven Festival of Lights Decorating Contest? Will Lupita and Brad find true love? Will the Martians, Santa and Major Tom save Christmas? What does Chuy the Chupacabra have to do with this? Will Professor Spacely discover the true meaning of Christmas? Will you laugh, boo, cheer and sing along? Does Frosty eat snow cones?

Produced in the style of an old-time radio show, “Merry Twistmas, Tucson” will be broadcast live on 94.9MIXfm. All of the proceeds will go to benefit the Diaper Bank of Southern Arizona, which distributes 600,000 diapers a year through partnerships with more than 50 nonprofit agencies. Diaper or cash donations will be collected the night of the show.

General admission tickets are $15. Special VIP events: VIP floor seating and reception with cast, $50; VIP love-seat seating for two and reception with cast — $100.
