CAMP VERDE, Ariz. — Authorities say a prisoner has escaped from a northern Arizona jail.

The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Wade Cole Dickinson somehow fled Camp Verde Jail on Saturday afternoon.

Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn says Dickinson was reportedly spotted late Saturday night near Interstate 17 and Middle Verde Road.

Dickinson was being booked on several charges including fraud and drug possession.

Authorities say he has family in Camp Verde and Prescott Valley.

Residents in those areas are being warned not to pick up any hitchhikers.

According to reports, Dickinson was seen wearing a white button-up shirt, khaki pants and dark socks. D'Evelyn says he has cuts on his legs that were likely caused by barbed wire.

Dickinson is described as 6-foot-1, 190 pounds and white with brown hair and brown eyes.
