Residents of a trailer park have been evacuated as firefighters battle a wildfire in the small town of Kearny, about 80 miles north of Tucson.

Arizona State Forestry officials say the Shipman Fire was reported about 5 p.m. Monday and it's unclear how it started.

The wildfire is burning through salt cedar trees along the San Pedro River bed and reportedly grew to about 75 acres within an hour.

Authorities didn't immediately know how many people were evacuated as a precaution from the Stevens Trailer Park.

Pinal County Sheriff's officials say they're contacting the Red Cross and Kearny High School to open up for temporary evacuations.

Arizona Department of Transportation officials say the wildfire has closed five miles of State Route 177 near Kearny. Kearny is located east of Florence.
