Re: the Dec. 11 online letter to the editor "CareMore changes could hurt patients."

I would like to thank Dr. Whittman for his letter to the editor in which he expressed his concern for Tucson patients living with kidney disease. Dr. Whittman and I share the same goal — we both want to ensure patients have access to high-quality health care resources to improve their health and well-being.

This year, after analyzing health outcomes, we made the decision to partner exclusively with the nephrology group that had the highest clinical performance measures. We are confident that this decision will positively impact CareMore Health patients in Tucson.

We will continue to work with our current nephrology network through May 2018 to ensure that our patients experience a smooth transition. I would like to invite the community to reach out to me directly with any concerns at or on Twitter (@PGuptaMD), so we can continue to work collectively to address the needs of patients in the Tucson community.

Regional Medical Officer of CareMore Health of Arizona
