Re: the Dec. 22 article "Make candidates for mayor, council declare their party, lawmaker urges."

I am in complete disagreement with state Rep. Jay Lawrence once again. The only bills he every proposes are ones that provide solutions for problems that don't exist.

There is way too much partisanship in our area of Arizona already. People should vote on values, policies, rhetoric, and actions that fit with their beliefs. They shouldn't vote blindly for the party only. That's how we elected such a very incompetent president who stokes bigotry, personal greed and scapegoating of "the other" to appeal to those who feel like victims — feel left behind. Just give them someone else to blame.

The tragic part is that the very people who voted for Trump and really need some help will be further victimized by his tax cuts and other policies. After a few years they will experience higher taxes and see Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and Social Security gutted and their health care become too expensive.
