Re: the Dec. 24 article "Broadway widening plans under scrutiny."

Thanks to Councilman Steve Kozachik for introducing the city’s left hand to its right in his efforts to promote a beneficial project on Broadway. The engagement of both Rio Nuevo and the acclaimed Project for Public Spaces hold promise for improving what otherwise could be a fiasco on Broadway.

Just plain silly that we’d be wasting so much money on a needless, destructive widening project on Broadway while the RTA leaves a big, unfinished donut hole on Grant Road because they’ve run out of money. Let’s hope Kozachik isn’t the only city leader with good sense, showing some stewardship of tax dollars, protection of small, locally owned businesses, and a public project that leaves us proud rather than shaking our heads.
