The Mexican wolf deserves a chance to recover. They were here before the Europeans migrated to the Southwest, and lived in harmony with the Native People. They were almost massacred into extinction. There is a chance to bring them back, and the state government is trying to shut down the program. The wolf is necessary to keep the ecology strong, by culling sick elk and deer. They also keep the elk and deer from overgrazing the riverbeds and lakes. That in turn helps other mammals and birds. There is a reason why the wolf was here in the first place. They deserve a chance to live, like we all do. Ranchers and land developers are working with our state government to stall the recovery program. I am hoping the residents of Arizona will resist that attempt to shut down the recovery of the wolf.
