Some time ago we were assured by the editorial page editor that the paper would print both sides of issues (if possible) to attempt to present the views of all readers. I watched very closely and this seemed to be the case — for a while — but over the weeks the balance returned to the same old predominately liberal viewpoint.

I can only assume from this observation that conservatives do not read this paper or they know that their chances of being printed are slim or none. Along with the above we readers were assured quite some time ago that Ernesto Portillo would refrain from political opinion in his column, and he pretty much complied with his commitment to that, until his Sept. 24 column, which was pure conjecture on his part and that of Todd Miller.
