Re: the Oct. 5 column "No law can prevent someone from committing evil acts."

I believe the latest "evil act" could have been prevented by totally banning automatic weapons' purchases, period.. In fact automatic weapons and additions that can convert a weapon into an automatic weapon should not be available to anyone but the military and possibly law enforcement , in special cases.

For those who think the general public needs those kinds of weapons for "insurrection" in case of a corrupt government needs to understand democracy and vote in every election.

Hunters and just plain gun nuts who enjoy target practice certainly don't need automatic weapons that would shred an animal and a target. The only purpose of an automatic weapon is to kill as many people as possible in the shortest time possible and the banning of them could eventually stop the mass killings the United States is so famous for.
