I would like to address two letters in Wednesday's, 12/27 edition. The first discussed oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. This has been debated for years. What the writer left out is that ANWR is about the size of West Virginia. The area that would be disturbed is about the size of Martinsburg Airport - less than 1% of the refuge. Likewise, the National Monuments mentioned by the writer were just created by Obama, and were a massive federal land grab overreach. The Antiquities Act specifically states that National Monuments should be created with the absolute minimum footprint. Obama chose to re-write the law to satisfy his environmental base.

Finally, the concept of white males (or females) having privilege is unsupported by fact. Upon graduating high school, both my wife and I were denied jobs for which we were highly qualified, because the jobs were reserved under "Affirmative Action." This same reverse discrimination continues today in job selection, college admission, and many other walks of life.
